Important changes to your 084 and 087 numbers

The communications regulator OFCOM are making changes to the way consumers are charged for calling 084 and 087 numbers. These changes have beenĀ introduced to make the call charges more transparent and easier to understand. Therefore this is great news for your business and more importantly your customers, who will feel more comfortable calling your 084 or 087 number.

All DIDcomms customers who operate 084 and 087 numbersĀ need to be aware of both changes to the way calls our numbers are charged and what you need to do to ensure you comply with the latest Ofcom regulations.

Put simply your callers are now charged a clear price per minute for and an access charge. The access charge can vary and is set by the caller’s network provider.

What you need to do:

  • Review all your promotional materials, website and advertising. Wherever you promote your 084 or 087 number you must ensure that the relevant costs and service charge are displayed in a prominent position, and in close proximity to the telephone number.
  • When advertising your 084 number ensure that the wording is displayed as, ā€œCalls to this number are charged at 7p per minute plus your telephone providerā€™s access charge.ā€ You can see the detailed list of charges here depending on your number range provided by DIDcomms.
  • When advertising your 087 number ensure that the wording is displayed as, ā€œCalls to this number are charged at 13p per minute plus your telephone providerā€™s access charge.ā€ You can see the detailed list of charges here depending on your number range provided by DIDcomms.
